Held on the third Sunday of January the Ati-Atihan is one of three larger festivals in the Visayas celebrating the Jesus Child Sto.Nino. The 'Ati' has quite a different feel to many other festivals in that crowd participation and merriment is accepted. Costumes and headdresses reflect tribal themes with many natural products incorporated into the designs. - face and body paints tend to be of a black pigment.
