Siquijor Healing Festival 74.jpg
Tradional Healers on Siquijor Island will collect literally hundreds of medicinal plants and herbs from the Bandilaan Forest on the seven Fridays leading up to Black Saturday during Holy Week. The materials collected are chopped into fine pieces and on the Saturday are cooked together with special oils including Holy Water & Incense. On completion of the cooking the mixture is scooped into containers and allowed to cool & set. The mixture can then be used in a way similar to incense burning, but the difference being that the smoke released is believed to dispel evil spirits and bad elements.
